The NBA is investigating Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant after he appeared to make a finger gun gesture toward the Golden State Warriors’ bench during Wednesday’s game, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon.
The incident took place late in the fourth quarter during a break in play. As Morant returned to the bench for a timeout, he directed the gesture at the Warriors’ bench, which prompted a response from Golden State guard Buddy Hield.
The league will also review Hield’s reaction to Morant’s gesture, with officials expected to interview those involved as early as Wednesday.
Both Morant and Hield were given technical fouls for the incident. This comes after Morant had already been suspended twice by the NBA for posting videos of himself with a gun on social media.
