In a move aimed at bolstering their roster, the Philadelphia 76ers announced the signing of Colin Castleton to a 10-day contract. Castleton, a second-year pro, joins the 76ers after stints with the Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors this season.
The 6-foot-11 center has shown promise in his young career, averaging 4.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 20 combined games with the Grizzlies and Raptors. Castleton’s most impressive performances came against the 76ers on March 12, where he hauled in a career-best 14 rebounds, and the very next game at Utah on March 14, where he tallied a career-high 13 points.
Castleton’s journey to the NBA has been marked by perseverance and hard work. Originally signed to a two-way contract by the Los Angeles Lakers in July 2023, he has since played for the Lakers, Grizzlies, and Raptors, producing 3.0 points on 45.8-percent shooting and 2.6 rebounds in 36 career games.
In addition to his NBA experience, Castleton has also excelled in the G League, competing in 19 regular-season games for Raptors 905, the Osceola Magic, and the Memphis Hustle in 2024-25. During this stint, he boasted impressive averages of 18.2 points (59.1% FG), 10.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocked shots, earning him recognition as one of the top performers in the G League.
Castleton’s collegiate career was also marked by success, playing two seasons at Michigan before transferring to Florida. As a fifth-year senior with the Gators, he earned All-SEC First Team and All-Defensive Team honors after averaging 16.0 points (sixth in SEC) and a conference-best 3.0 blocks per game.
The signing of Castleton provides the 76ers with a talented young big man who can contribute to the team’s frontcourt. With the team struggling to find consistency this season, Castleton’s addition could provide a much-needed spark.
Castleton will wear No. 18 for the 76ers, and his 10-day contract provides him with an opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially earn a longer-term deal with the team.
As the 76ers look to regroup and make a push for the playoffs, the signing of Colin Castleton could prove to be a shrewd move. With his impressive G League performances and promising NBA experience, Castleton has the potential to make a significant impact on the team’s fortunes.
