The Philadelphia 76ers are set to lose another key player for the rest of the 2024-25 season, as Tyrese Maxey’s ongoing finger injury may sideline him for the remainder of the year. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the star guard’s tendon injury in his finger is expected to keep him out of action.
Maxey has been absent since March 3, initially due to a back injury he suffered after a hard fall. However, the finger issue on his right hand, which has been troubling him for a while, has kept him sidelined. Charania reports that despite efforts to rehab the injury, Maxey continues to experience discomfort and requires ongoing treatment.
After attempting to return to action with planned workouts and a practice session, Maxey faced setbacks due to lingering issues with his finger. With just six games remaining and the team out of playoff contention, head coach Nick Nurse has decided to prioritize Maxey’s recovery off the court to avoid further injury.
